This is your one stop Frequently-asked-questions (FAQ) article about Hashtagger. For any further questions, please feel free to chat with us on Twitter or Telegram whose links will be provided at the end.

What does Hashtagger do?

For social media users: Hashtagger provides them cryptocurrency in exchange of the engagements they get on their tweets that contain the specified hashtag and the url of the week.

For blockchain companies: It helps them acquire and revitalize their community by incentivizing them. For any blockchain project, its community is vital because a decentralized project can’t survive without having a community to decentralize to.

Hashtagger is a 2 sided marketplace (like, say, AirBnb and Uber) for the the crypto community and companies

How will the rewards be calculated?

Each campaign will last for a week and will have a total reward pool.

During this week, each individual tweet’s like, retweets etc. will be automatically calculated to give each tweet a net engagement score.

If someone’s net engagement score is x% of the total campaign’s engagement score, then their reward will be proportional to x% of the total campaign’s rewards.

The rewards are capped, so that one big influencer doesn’t end up taking most of the rewards. Read the post about the current campaigns to see what the cap is.

People also get the referral rewards. read the current post about the referral rewards.

Be sure to read about the banning mechanism, so that you’re not banned:

What do you need for participating in a campaign?

A genuine twitter account (we’ll weed out accounts that were recently created and/or show other signs of not being genuine), Metamask (the standard wallet for crypto websites. You can download it here: https://metamask.io/) and your thoughts about the project you are tweeting about!

Why is Hashtagger important for the blockchain companies ?

Every crypto project has to go through certain steps such as:
a) building the Dapp (you can do that on Ethereum, BinanceSmartChain, Matic etc.),

b) doing the smart contract security audit (you can do that on Peckshield, Quantstamp etc. Our own smart contracts are audited by Peckshield, btw.)

c) Doing the public sale (You can do that on PancakeSwap, Binance Launchpad etc.)

d) Liquidity Provision (on various centralized and decentralized exchanges like Binance, Uniswap etc.)

e) and finally, letting the crypto community know about yourself.
Currently there is no easy way of doing this except by perhaps partnering with somebody with a big community, which involves complex negotiations.
Hashtagger helps blockchain company solve this crucial problem in a DAO like way. And that’s what Decentralized Marketing about.

What is Decentralized Marketing (DeMark)?

So far, the crypto companies have explored the field of finance through DeFi (Decentralized Finance) and creating interesting products such as Maker, Compound, Uniswap etc.

However, we are yet to fully use the power of decentralization for Marketing. Hashtagger is a DeMark pioneer that helps people do the marketing for their favorite coins and earn money irrespective of their follower count, nationality, gender, language etc.

Can one tweet in languages other than English?

Yes!
In fact, we‘ll love it if you to do so.
As long as you include the given hashtag and the url (which will both be in English) the remaining message and/or attachments can be in any language of your choice. Decentralized Marketing is inclusive for all languages!

Why is Web 2.0 (Social Media) and Web 3.0 (Blockchain) mix important?

We live in times where somehow social media content creators aren’t getting paid.

Social media is a two way marketplace, just like Uber or AirBnb.

  • As the users, we’ll not accept the situation if Uber wasn’t paying its drivers.
  • As the users, we’ll not accept the situation if AirBnb wasn’t paying its hosts.
  • But as the users, we do accept the situation when social media giants don’t pay the content creators (like you and I) on their platforms!

Through Hashtagger, we build a web3.0 incentive layer on top of the web2.0 platforms starting with Twitter.

Why Twitter?

Of all the social media platforms, Twitter is the most crypto friendly due to its CEO Jack Dorsey’s involvement in the space. Plus of all the social media platforms, it’s our favourite!

Who are the investors?

We are fortunate to have support from some of the top VCs in this space:

  • NGC
  • Liquefy Labs
  • Genesis Block Ventures
  • CMS
  • Spark Digital
  • BlueHelix, and
  • DuckDao

How did you come to this use-case?

We’ve created multiple blockchain products and use cases and education material and have been invited by the top universities such as National University of Singapore, University of Cambridge and our CEO’s alma mater, University of Oxford for helping students learn about blockchain and develop applications on top of that which have also been covered by magazines such as Forbes.

This is a use case developed by us during the creation of one of such workshop’s materials.

What is special about this use case that can’t be done through the traditional financial institutions but requires blockchain?

This is a unique use case which our team came up with because of its deep experience in Blockchain and traditional marketing to solve the problem of no payments for social media users who aren’t massive influencers.

The reason that most social media users don’t get paid are numerous, but one important factor is that it’s tough to do micro transactions (say 1–10 USD) without incurring a prohibitive fee through the traditional financial infrastructure. The fee is even higher if the payment is done to a different country.

We realized that blockchain with high throughput and low fees can solve that. So, through Hashtagger, we’re essentially doing mass micro-transactions which you can’t even do well with traditional payment systems with banks or Stripe and Paypal.

What’s the roadmap?

We’ll first be doing a series of public tests with rewards for the participants (Our second one begins on 20th July and has a reward pool of 5000 USDC for testing.)

Based on the user feedback during that time, we’ll further improve the product and move towards the launch and public token sale.

For us, it’s crucial to involve the community right from the stage of creation.

Will the early users have an advantage?

Yes, early users will get more coins, just like was the case in bitcoin. They should take care to ‘Hodl!’ ;)

(Not a financial advice!)
